Special Symposium - Extreme Photonics (HPSSSW & NLUO)
Abstract:
Innovation is often achieved by exploring new scales, such as in space or in time. Nanotechnology is a good example, which is already revolutionizing a broad range of science and technology. When we turn to optics and photonics, we also see a recent surge in the development of light sources with extreme characteristics, in terms of wavelength, pulse duration and intensity. These sources are being actively developed with a view that it could eventually support the promotion of scientific and industrial development, covering applications in physics, chemistry, engineering, biology and medical science. In the proposed Special Symposium on Extreme Photonics, talks will be focused on the generation and application of such extreme light sources, with characteristics such as ultra-intense, ultra-fast, ultra-short wavelength, or ultra-long wavelength (terahertz).
